SEISMIC SERENITY

Finding meditative peace against internal and external turmoil is the narrative.

The small, meditating yogi (bottom center) is intended to be the starting point of this collage. Above him, like the Sword of Damocles, hangs a plumb line bob.  Rising above him is an erupting volcano at the base of which Maasai warriors compete in a jumping contest.  On either side of the volcano, Native American pottery figures hold a Pharaoh’s crook and flail.

Kibbutzim cultivation radiates from the eruption.  Eastern Island Moai arise among pyramids facing the Great Mosque of Timbuktu.

A frightening Buddhist mask set inside a bowl of cherries swallows the rails of a roller coaster.  Gloved hands reach out from TV sets and are poised to drop billiard balls.  Filled granaries recede into the background. Yet, all along, peace is within reach: left to right across the lower part of the collage, jarring acoustic lines settle down to a rhythmic heartbeat as the meditation turns calmly inward.
