Abwhorrior
The invasion of Ukraine underlines once again the madness and horror of war that is to be abhorred: the tragic anonymity of countless men slaughtered.
Landing craft at the bottom of the piece disgorges soldiers into a trench. Helmets at a Nuremberg rally center on the groin of a menacing paratrooper whose Giacometti head is embraced by a lost soul of Michelangelo. Majorettes cheer on the carnage. Artillery mimic bowling balls knocking down pins. A wink to Slim Pickens riding an atomic bomb in Dr. Strangelove drops off to the left. Off to the right, a skeleton holds up a medallion to the glories of war. At the top, a wink to the ubiquitous Kilroy who was everywhere.
